Lists of Identified Uses

Introduction

The substances on this page are divided into two sections:

  • Non-Hazardous substances that require an Identified Use List as part of a Registration Dossier (REACH Article 10 (a)(iii)).

    • Hazardous substances that meet the criteria for classification as dangerous as per EU CLP Regulation 1272/2008 and EU Directive 67/548/EEC. These substances require Exposure Scenarios which have to address all Identified Uses of the Registrants and describe the conditions under which the risks associated with such Identified Uses can be managed to achieve safe use (REACH Article 14(4)). MoCon is preparing the Exposure Scenarios.

You are invited to view the lists and check that your use has been included.  If it is not yet included, please use this E-mail form to provide us with the Identified Use Name and the relevant Use Descriptors. It is important to do this because these are the Lists that are included in the Lead Registrants dossier submission to ECHA (Section 3.5 of IUCLID).

After the original 2010 LR dossier submissions, ECHA expanded the data requirements.  Whereas initially information was required for Industrial, Professional and Consumer Uses, ECHA then expanded IUCLID Section 3.5, named it ‘Life Cycle’, and now requires two further sections: Manufacture, Formulation, as well as Industrial, Professional and Consumer Uses.

When checking these lists it's useful to keep in mind that the Reach Regulation, Article 3(26) defines an 'Identified Use' as meaning "a use of a substance on its own or in a preparation, that is intended by an actor in the supply chain, including his own use, or that is made known to him in writing by an immediate downstream user."
